Comparison of reliability and economic feasibility for the three configurations of multiple battery charging systems

Multiple battery charging systems can be configured with various combinations of ac-dc and dc-dc converters. This paper reviews the reliability economy three representative configurations multi-battery systems. Existing PSA (part stress analysis) analyse failure rate considering environmental factors for type parts, number connection state parts voltage current parts. However, since it does not reflect system's operating characteristics, Fault-tree analysis (FTA) method based on fault tree is used. Still, cannot analysed operational risk converter according to load conditions. Therefore, in this study, by defining a minimum maximum multiple designing separate tree, operation characteristics were considered reflecting charges, SOC (state charge) redundancy effect that appears when cyclic applied. Through new enhanced FTA method, (Type 1) which sequential applied are quantitatively proven advantageous terms economy.
